It is with deep sadness that Management and the Board wish to advise Members of the unfortunate passing of Warragul Country Club Life Member, Nancy Pattinson.
Nancy was an extremely popular and widely respected Member of this Club, and together with her husband Norm, they forged a lifelong connection with the Club. Nancy first joined the Warragul Country Club in 1952, making her a Member for an incredible 71 years. While this in itself is an extraordinary achievement, Nancy also actively served in various roles within the Club and local golf community, including:
- President of the WCC Women’s Golf Committee from 1973 – 1974 and again from 1989 – 1990
- WCC Captain from 1980 – 1981
- President of Golf West Gippsland from 1983 – 1984
Further to her leadership roles in Golf, Nancy also had a successful playing career holding a number of trophies & championships to her name. These included:
- B Grade Golf West Gippsland Singles Champion
- Bronze Division One Champion in 1990
- Logan Trophy Winner 5 times in 1963, 1979, 1983, 1986 & 1990
- Twice the Warragul Associates Foursomes Champions with Jean Thomas and Di Christian in 1976 & 1988
In 1991 the Nancy Pattinson Trophy was struck in honour of Nancy’s service and commitment to the Club and to this day the trophy remains one of the Women’s Golf Committee’s Honour Board events. In 2007 Nancy received the Club’s ultimate acknowledgement and was elected a Life Member, in recognition of her long-term commitment, service, contribution and devotion to the Club spanning over 7 decades.
Nancy epitomised what Club Membership is all about, she had a great sense of humour and was front and centre at “all those concerts” in the old Clubhouse. Nancy was a friend to many, she will be sadly missed by all.
The Club extends its heartfelt condolences to the Pattinson family.
