Recently, Community Clubs Victoria sought nominations for club volunteers from across Victoria to be recognised for their commitment and hard work in honour of National Volunteer Week (20th – 26th May 2024). The Club saw this as a great opportunity to nominate Phil Rossiter, who has been a Member of the Warragul Country Club for 50 years and a consistent volunteer during this time.
Last week, Phil was invited to attend a Community Clubs Victoria gathering of local club volunteers where he was presented with a certificate of appreciation for his dedication to volunteering.
Below are some examples of Phil’s long-standing and regular volunteer work.
- Local Gazette scribe – Phil submits golf results on a weekly basis and provides summaries of main golf events on behalf of the Club. Phil has performed this role continuously for many decades.
- Friday Night Raffle – for over 30 years Phil has volunteered his time for our Friday Night Raffle. He assists in the administration of the Raffle, by recording and maintaining numbers drawn, winners and prizes.
- Course maintenance & events volunteer – Phil is always first to assist the course maintenance team anytime the Club hosts a major golf event or a weather event causes damage to the golf course.
- Golf Committee Member – Captain from 2015 to 2019 and Vice-Captain from 2020 to 2022.
- In addition to his volunteer work at the Country Club, Phil has also been an active and long serving volunteer member of the Warragul Lions Club.
On behalf of all Members, we congratulate Phil on this recognition and Award for his outstanding work as a volunteer in our community.
