July Club Update

We would like to advise Members of the following important Club announcements.
Loyalty Points
As part of the Club’s Member Rewards Program, Members have the benefit of earning and redeeming loyalty points. Loyalty points can be redeemed on all goods and services at the Club, with the exception of gaming machines & private golf lessons provided by our PGA professionals. Loyalty points can be used to pay golf competition fees and your annual Membership.
Golf Member Winter Rewards Program
Last year the Club introduced an exclusive Golf Member Rewards Program for the colder months, which provided golfers who played in the Men’s Tuesday competition and Women’s Wednesday competition with valuable discounts or benefits to reward loyalty through winter. As this program was well received, the Golf Committee requested to implement the program again from July to October 2024. A breakdown of the program is below for your reference. Please note that it may be subject to change.

Renovation
In a previous Member Update, the Club advised Members that due to tenders received being more than the Quantity Surveyor’s cost estimate, the renovation will not proceed as per the original scope of works outlined in that tender. As a result, the Board and Architects have conducted a review and have reduced the scale of work to align with the budget of the Club. This review has now been finalised and approved by the Board. The Architects will now proceed to the “detailed design” phase and it is expected that the project will go out to tender in November 2024.
Financial Report
I am delighted to notify you that the Club’s May Financial Reports have been approved. As at 30th May 2024, the EBITDA was $2.553 million and the Year To Date (YTD) cash profit (EBITDA less depreciation) was $2.261 million. This exceeds the 2023/2024 budget projections set by the Board, which is a great outcome for the Club.
Chief Executive Officer Position Update
In May, Members were advised that the CEO had announced his intention to retire. A working group consisting of the Club Chairperson, Vice Chairperson and People & Culture Manager have been actively managing the process to appoint the Club’s next CEO. The position has been advertised and a shortlist of applicants prepared for interviews, to be conducted mid-August 2024.
Pharaohs Road Roundabout
The Pharaohs Road Roundabout has been an ongoing issue and topic of discussion for over a decade. The Baw Baw Shire (BBS) recently advised the Club that they are currently finalising the roundabout road design. The BBS have further indicated their intention to acquire two small parcels of land via a compulsory acquisition process, from the Club. One is 57sqm of land on the corner of Pharaohs Road and Sutton Street and the other is 107sqm of land on the fence boundary of the 4th Fairway. This land is needed to facilitate the construction of the roundabout. As part of the negotiations, the Club seeks the BBS support to take ownership of the Tarwin Street reserve land (430sqm of land currently owned by the State Government) that encroaches into the 4th Fairway. The Club’s negotiating position is that the three land swaps occur at no cost. The three parcels of land are identified on a Plan on the Club Notice Board should Members require more detail. You can also access a digital copy of the Plan by clicking here. The Club has not yet been served with any compulsory land acquisition documentation by the BBS, but will update Members when this occurs.
