Message from the Men's Golf Committee

Message from the Men's Golf Committee
Dear Golfers,
It has come to the Committees attention that some of our golfers are using the current competition restrictions to manipulate their handicap in an unfair manner.  We would hope that there arent too many but would like to point out the following.
The Committee sees this action as not within the Spirit of the Game and as such a breach of our Code of Conduct.
Where any analysis of returned score cards or other advice suggests that this may be occurring the Committee will take appropriate action.
We understand that there are no “competitions’ at present, and the executive committee devised a process in which Members could still apply scores to handicap during lockdown.  We still believe that all players are expected to play in the spirit of the game by:

  • Acting with integrity – for example, by following the Rules, applying all penalties, and being honest in all aspects of play.
There is no penalty under the Rules for failing to act in this way, except that the Committee may disqualify a player for acting contrary to the spirit of the game if it finds that the player has committed serious misconduct.
Penalties other than disqualification may be imposed for player misconduct only if those penalties are adopted as part of a Code of Conduct under Rule 1.2b.”
Please continue to enjoy the luxury in playing golf in the correct spirit and think to our fellow Members currently in lockdown who would dearly love to be out there playing golf.
Hopefully we are only a few weeks away from playing competition golf once again.
Yours in golf
Men’s Golf Committee
