Message from your Captains

Message from your Captains

Dear Members,

The executive committee met yesterday to discuss the next 6 weeks of restrictions and what this means for our Club.

Under the Stage 3 Restrictions and by consultation with Golf Australia, no competition golf is allowed to be played and thus will be cancelled. The executive committee discussed these guidelines at length and believe that during this time it is important to support our club. Therefore we have come up with a way that you can be handicapped without playing competition.
Golfers will be given the option to pay a $10 handicap administration fee, in lieu of the regular $10 competition fee. Golfers who pay the $10 handicap administration fee will have their scores submitted for handicap and go into a weekly sweepstake raffle that will run from Saturday to Friday, and will be drawn on the following Saturday after each week. Additionally, after Stage 3 Restrictions are lifted (in approximately 6 weeks) the Club will hold a major prize draw for all persons who paid a $10 handicap fee. Prizes to be confirmed at a later date.
We are indeed very lucky to have such wonderful members that are supportive of the decisions that Management and both Committees have made in the best interest of the Club and its Members.
Both of us encourage members to get behind this initiative to support our Club – you never know, you might win some great prizes.
Kind regards,

Wayne Farnham & Kerri Ahearn

Important Changes to Golf @ Warragul

Important Changes to Golf @ Warragul

Dear Golfers,

The Premier of Victoria has announced a move to Stage 3 restrictions in Regional Victoria from 11:59pm on Wednesday, 5th August 2020.

As such, how we play golf at the Club will take on another look for the next 6 weeks.

Golf will be a permitted activity under the directions with the following conditions:

  • A maximum limit of 2 persons is permitted per group, with the exception of players who reside at the same household where the limit is 3 persons per group.
  • It is vital that players arrive at the Pro Shop no more than 15 minutes prior to their pre-booked tee time. Players must depart immediately after the completion of their round.  Any golfers who arrive earlier than 15 minutes before their tee time will be asked to return to their vehicle.
  • No hire equipment. This includes golf clubs or pull buggies. Golf cart hire will only be available for persons with a disability, who are over the age of 65, or who can demonstrate that they require one due to having special needs. Golf Australia recommends that a medical certificate should be supplied to demonstrate these needs. Please see other terms and conditions below.
  • All practice facilities are closed.
  • All official Club competitions are cancelled.
  • Handicapping of scores through non-contact means can proceed. ie MiScore App or individual scorecard.
The following guidelines for booking and playing golf at the Club during the COVID-19 pandemic are below. These guidelines have been developed to ensure the health and safety of the Members and Staff, and to adhere to Government health regulations during this period.

TIMESHEET GUIDLINES

  •  Timesheet bookings only. No walk-up starts are permitted at any time.
  •  Members must book online or phone Pro Shop.
  •  Bookings in groups of two (2).
  •  Two-tee start with six (6) minute intervals.
  •  Bookings from Sun-Fri 7:30am – 4:30pm and Saturdays 7:00am – 4:30pm.
  •  Members may book for themselves and one other Member.
  •  Open timesheets will be operational on all days. There will be no gender specific timesheets or days.
  •  The timesheets will be open to WCC Golf Members having priority.
  • Green fee players will only have access available on the day of play and after 1pm.  We will monitor course usage as to whether we allow earlier access on certain days.
  •  The last tee time is 4:30pm after which time the tees will be closed. Tee off is not permitted after this time.
  •  We encourage Members who are available to play weekdays to do so, to allow for those Members who are still working to access the course on the weekend.

PRO SHOP

  • The Pro Shop will operate at restricted hours. These hours will be monitored on course usage.
  •  Members should not arrive any earlier than 15 minutes prior to their tee off time.
  •  All players must check in with Pro Shop before teeing off.
  •  Maintain a 1.5 metre distance between patrons.
  •  No more than 6 persons are permitted in the Pro Shop (excluding staff) to adhere to social distancing regulations.
  • Membership Cards will not be swiped during transactions at this time.
  • Cashless payments still preferred.
  • Members must leave immediately after their round has concluded.
  • BYO alcohol is not permitted on Club grounds; however, Members may purchase the beverages from the Pro Shop to consume on the course.
  • Coffee & limited hot food will be available to purchase.

PRACTICE FACILITIES/AMENITIES

  • All practice facilities are closed, including the driving range, practice nets & putting greens.
  • The Clubhouse is closed from 11.59pm on Wednesday 5th August 2020.
  • The locker room and on-course toilets will be open.
  •  Golf lessons are still available. (Outdoor Only) Social distancing restrictions will be followed.
  • Members must adhere to the social distancing regulations to minimise the risk of spreading COVID-19 to other Members and/or staff.
  • Members must not present at the Club unless they have a golf booking.

GOLF CARTS

A restriction of 1 person per golf cart is necessary to adhere to social distancing directions of 1.5m.  This applies to both Club and privately owned carts.  Again, these are measures we must comply with, to minimise the risk of infection.

  • A one person per cart limit, unless both riders are household members and both meet the criteria as listed above.
  • Clubs/facilities are required to thoroughly clean the carts before and after each use.
  • Golf cart hire will only be available for persons with a disability, who are over the age of 65, or who can demonstrate that they require one due to having special needs. Golf Australia recommends that a medical certificate should be supplied to demonstrate these needs.

This will place a greater demand on our golf cart fleet so please if you require a golf cart make sure that you book it in advance with the Pro Shop.
* These restrictions will be reviewed regularly to ensure they are compliant with COVID-19 National and State Health Compliance requirements and may be subject to amendment at very short notice

All Victorians must wear a face covering or mask when leaving your place of residence from Monday 3rd August 202. This applies when playing golf, unless you have a lawful excuse or exemption as outlined by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

Golf Australia strongly recommends that all clubs/facilities direct players to wear a face covering/mask and that it be worn for the duration of their round.

Any persons who arrives at the Club without a face covering/mask without a lawful excuse or exemption as outlined by DHHS, will be denied access and asked to leave the premises immediately.

Members are reminded that they should not enter the Club grounds if they are feeling unwell. We ask all members to please download the COVIDSafe app as part of our work to slow the spread of COVID-19. Having confidence we can find and contain outbreaks quickly will mean the Government can ease restrictions while still keeping Australians safe.
Our staff do not have discretion to vary any of the guidelines set out in this communication.  Members who do not adhere to the required guidelines may be subject to having their timesheet privileges removed.  While we understand that there are many restrictions to adhere to,and we are grateful for the support of all the Members during these trying times.
It is wonderful to be able to continue to offer Members the opportunity of playing golf and we thank you all for your patience and understanding during the closure of the Clubhouse.
We are indeed very lucky to have such wonderful members that are supportive of the decisions that Management and both Committees have made in the best interest of the Club and its Members.
Look forward to seeing you all.

Director of Golf

Update from the CEO

Update from the CEO

It’s hard to believe that we’re almost at the end of July and already so much has happened.

The Club introduced postcode identification checks for all patrons upon arrival to help protect our Members and staff after the Premier announced metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire were to go into stage 3 restrictions.

We have received immense support from all of our Members and guests since implementing numerous COVID-19 compliance measures and would like to thank everyone for your cooperation.

In addition to the postcode identification checks, all patrons who enter the Clubhouse are also required to register their attendance for tracing purposes.

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 we have hand sanitising stations available for patrons use. Please see our friendly staff for any assistance.

While we always exercise a high level of cleanliness, we have introduced a higher frequency of cleaning rotations. This means you will see our staff cleaning before, during and after service.

The Clubs operating hours will remain 11.30am to 9pm and beyond 9pm if customer demand dictates.

Kitchen hours for lunch on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday have been extended from 12pm to 3pm.

The bar, bistro, TAB and Keno facilities are open and functional. Please note that due to restrictions our cafe remains closed.

A maximum of 10 patrons are permitted to be seated at one table. All patrons are required to be seated including in the Members Bar.

Finally, we ask that any Members or guests who experience any COVID-19 symptoms to get tested and self isolate until your condition has been determined.

Thank you for your continued support during these uncertain times.

Michael Hodge

Chief Executive Officer

Warragul Country Club
