The Board wishes to advise Members of the unfortunate passing of long time Club Member Mavis Dye. Mavis was a Golf Member for over 40 years and made a significant contribution to our Club through her role on the Women’s Golf Committee, where she was Secretary in 1999 and 2000 and President in 2005.
A very active Golf Member, Mavis won both Bronze Division 1 and Bronze Division 2 Championships in 1998 and 1986 respectively and was a regular Pennant Golf representative for the Club. Mavis was a winner of the “Vi Teasdale” trophy at the Women’s Golf Victoria Two-day Country tournament having been very successful in representing Warragul at many Country tournaments.
Mavis was also very active in the local community and supported many community organisations. She was instrumental in the Golf Club’s support of our local ”Meals on Wheels” charity program, having devoted 20 years of service as Club Co-Ordinator. Mavis was also a great supporter and volunteer of the Club’s golf program for our local Mawarra clients.
Along with Norm Pattinson, Mavis made a significant contribution to compiling and researching the Club’s history as recorded in “From Farmland to Fairways”. This contribution is appropriately noted in the Books list of acknowledgements.
Along with her Partner Bill, Mavis was a passionate Golfer and Club Member who made an outstanding contribution to the Warragul Country Club. A great contributor, a friend to many and someone who will be sadly missed by all at the Club.
