Further Changes to Golf 28/05/2020

Dear Members,

How good is it to be back playing on our course!

I would firstly like to thank all golf members for their adherence to the guidelines & restrictions that were put in place by our golfing committees for our re opening on Wednesday 13th May.
It’s been pleasing to see so many of you coming out and playing these past two weeks.
As we move into the next stage of easing of restrictions from June 1, the joint committees have addressed some changes going forward.

  • From Saturday 6th June, Saturday timesheets will move back to a two tee start. With outside gatherings increasing to 20, we feel comfortable that we can accommodate the increase in numbers in and around the club and comply with the social distancing instructions.
  • Open timesheets will remain on Saturdays to allow family members to continue sharing a cart as we still comply with the 1 occupant per cart rule.
  • Ladies Wednesday timesheets will revert back to two tees from June 10.
  • Even with the increase, we still ask members to not congregate outside the Pro Shop before and after golf and continue to arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your tee time.
  • Visitors with a Golflink number will have access to Competitions from Tuesday 9th June.  Saturdays will remain Members Only until further notice.
  • Green Fee players will be given access from Sunday 14th  June.
  • Preferred lies will be activated shortly as conditions start to worsen on the course, so as to allow golfers the opportunity for clean contact on the ball.  Please check Local Rule notices daily.

Whilst we commend Members on adhering to the Covid restrictions, the club expresses concern on the state the course has been left in during this time.  Particular mention on pitch marks & divots and the fact that there are no green fee players currently on the course.
Can I please ask that when you are next out playing that you repair yours and one other pitch mark on the greens and make sure that when carrying your sand bucket you fill any divots that you may see.
Another area of concern is the cart traffic.  As we have an increased cart traffic due to large fields and one cart per person, it is imperative that members adhere to the signs and ropes that Nathan and his staff have put out on the course.  These are done to manage and protect certain areas to give golfers the best conditions possible in which to play from.
The Miscore App has been met with positive reviews, this is currently at no cost to the club and will remain so till September 30th.  After this time, we may look to purchase for implementation on a more permanent basis.  This does not mean that paper scorecards will be made redundant.  The app is to help with the ease of entering scores, a live leader board for member interaction as well as many other great features.  If you haven’t yet downloaded, I suggest you do even just to try on your next social round.
Competitions will remain Stableford or Stroke on Monthly Medal Days as the Miscore app only allows for these types at this point in time.  This may differ from what is advertised in the Programme Book from week to week, so please keep an eye on the website for changes.
The Club will reopen on 9th June for meals only, this means that presentations and after golf activities will still be on hold.  However, as restrictions keep easing we will review access by Golf Members to the Clubhouse.

Yours in Golf,
Heath Jones
Director of Golf
Warragul Country Club

Venue Reopening

Venue Reopening

We are excited to announce that the Club will reopen on Tuesday 9th June 2020.

I’m sure we can all agree that since the Club closed back in March, the world has changed significantly. When you return, life at the Warragul Country Club will look a little different. We’ve redesigned the Clubhouse and our services to adhere to the strict guidelines imposed by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), which in turn will help to ensure a safer environment for our Members and guests.
A few things to note…

The DHHS guidelines state that “cafes, restaurants and pubs can resume serving meals using table service only.
This means that only the Bistro services will reopen at this point in time.

“The current directions require capacity limits of up to 20 patrons per single enclosed space, subject to meeting the density quotient of one patron per four square metres of patron-accessible area.”
Fortunately given the Club’s multiple enclosed spaces, our capacity for each single sitting is approximately 90 persons.
Bookings are therefore essential.

Revised operating hours, Monday to Sunday:
12pm to 2.30pm
6pm to 8pm
It is important to note that the Club will be closed in between operating hours.

Members will be advised later this week as to when bookings for the Bistro will open, please keep an eye on your emails. This correspondence will also provide more detail about social distancing guidelines, card-only transactions, new hygiene restrictions that all patrons are required to adhere to.
On behalf of the Board and Management at the Warragul Country Club, I’d like to say thank you for your continued support and staying connected with us during this time. The Club welcomes the Government’s decisions to ease Coronavirus restrictions and we look forward to further easing and potentially extending venue services, opening hours, capacities and the opening the Bars and Gaming Room.

We look forward to seeing you at the Club from Tuesday 9th June.

Michael Hodge
Chief Executive Officer
Warragul Country Club

What Shutdown?

What Shutdown?

Congratulations to longtime member Alan Singline who after a 7 week enforced layoff, came out today, first competition back and broke his age!
It seems the layoff has helped Alan as he went out in 2 under par on the front nine, standing on 18th tee 1 under the card, he only had help of a torch on a mobile phone on the 18th which resulted in a bogey to finish even par 71 for the day. (Alan is a few weeks short of his 73rd birthday)
Well done to Alan, who only late last year advanced to the final of the Club Championships beating some much younger opponents.
Keep up the good work Singy!!
